Your conversations stay yours.

DuckDuckVoice is designed to make one local decision—whether Spotify should be quiet—without recording or uploading your audio.

Last updated July 26, 2026

The short version

  • The app does not record, transcribe, upload, or save audio.
  • The website currently uses no advertising or behavioral analytics.
  • Stripe handles payment details and collects the email used at checkout.
  • Resend delivers the private purchase email.
  • Local diagnostic logs contain app events, not audio content.
  • Your Lower/Mute choice and duck volume are saved only on your Mac.

What the macOS app processes

During a foreground session you explicitly start, DuckDuckVoice uses microphone speech activity and a private local process tap for Codex/ChatGPT output activity. It uses those activity signals to decide when to lower or restore Spotify.

Audio samples are processed transiently on your Mac. They are not recorded, transcribed, retained, uploaded, sold, or used to train a model.

Local logs and recovery data

DuckDuckVoice keeps plain local event logs and a small recovery journal so it can restore the exact Spotify volume after a normal stop, fault, or restart. These files stay in your Mac's Application Support folder until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Session logs avoid recovery paths, device identifiers, and process IDs. A diagnostics export also strips home-directory paths, local device names, and stable device identifiers. The exported file is restricted to your macOS user before you review and choose whether to send it to support.

Your Lower/Mute choice and custom duck volume are stored in the app's local macOS preferences. DuckDuckVoice does not sync or upload them.

Website and hosting data

This site does not currently set marketing cookies, run advertising pixels, or use a behavioral analytics service. Vercel, our hosting provider, may process ordinary request information such as an IP address, browser details, and timestamps to deliver and secure the site. The site sends a no-referrer policy so private purchase URLs are not copied into navigation referrer headers.

Purchases and email

When checkout is enabled, Stripe collects your email and payment information on its hosted checkout page. DuckDuckVoice receives the order details needed to confirm the purchase, provide support, prevent fraud, and deliver the app. We never receive your complete card number.

Stripe's handling of payment information is governed by its own privacy notice. Resend processes the email address and message needed to send the private download link on our behalf. That link expires 30 days after checkout. Purchase email is used for receipts, download delivery, essential product notices, and direct support—not unrelated marketing unless you separately choose to receive it.

Your choices

You can stop a session or quit the app at any time, revoke macOS permissions in System Settings, and delete local logs and preferences. To ask what purchase information we hold, request correction or deletion, or ask a privacy question, email support@duckduckvoice.com.

We will update this policy before adding analytics, cloud audio processing, or any materially different data use.
