## Current behavior

1. User speech or supported assistant audio starts.
2. If local Spotify is playing above the selected target, DuckDuckVoice saves the exact current volume and moves directly to that target.
3. Spotify stays lowered across the user-to-assistant response gap.
4. After assistant audio finishes and both sources are quiet, Spotify returns directly to the exact saved volume.
5. Recovery journaling protects restoration on normal completion and faults.

## Current menu-bar controls

- Menu-bar preset: Lower music
- Custom duck-volume control shown when Lower is selected
- Menu-bar preset: Mute music

The preference is saved locally on the Mac and can be changed at any time,
including while a session is running; a live session adopts the new duck
target, and restoration still returns to the exact original volume.

- Menu-bar preset: Pause music

Do not describe Pause as currently available.
